What is going on with the MMA

Currently the MMA is involved with both AB-334 (Cooley) motorcycle anti-profiling and AB-51 (Quirk) lane splitting bill, These are both very important to me and should be to all motorcyclists in the State of California. AB-334 would put policies and procedures in place to prevent L.E. from profiling all motorcyclists. AB-51 will limit our lane splitting to the traffic flow of 30mph or less and we could split lane no more than 10mph over the flow of traffic. If you are a current member of the MMA of California, Thank you for your past and continued support. If you are not, please join and help "Protect Our Rights" as Motorcyclists and Americans. Memberships start at $25.00/year for singles and $35.00/year for couples, Donations are always

On Friday, July 13, California became the fourth state in the country to oppose roadside checkpoints that target motorcyclists.  Governor Jerry Brown signed Assembly Bill 1047 into law starting January 1 2013, joining with Virginia, North Carolina and New Hampshire in prohibiting law enforcement agencies from using safety grant money to fund motorcycle-only checkpoints.

California Senate Bill 350 Regulating Lane Sharing Splitting

California Senate Bill 350, introduced, on Feb, 20th, regulating lane splitting related to motorcycle operation. This bill would prohibit, with an exception for a peace officer, as
provided, a person operating a motorcycle from passing another vehicle in a portion of a lane occupied by that vehicle unless certain conditions are met, including that the passing occurs during traffic congestion, and the passing occurs at a safe speed. Because the failure to comply with these provisions would constitute an infraction under the Vehicle Code, this bill would impose a state-mandated local program.
